Join writer and performer Poppy Stevens for this free creative workshop for 10-16 year olds and create a beautifully written and decorated poem, as well as a creative prompt jar to take with you into your new year! This workshop is part of The Blank Page Project.
Workshops take place from 9.45AM to 3.30PM and include a free lunch, drinks and snacks!
So, what can you expect from this workshop? Some games, some writing, some crafting/making, some hot chocolate and a whole lot of creativity! We will be reflecting on this year and our hopes for the New Year through poetry. You will come away with a beautifully written and decorated poem, as well as a creative prompt jar to take with you into your new year to make it the most creative one yet. As well as this we will also be creating a display of little letters with big heart for the library. These little letters might be poems, positive affirmations or compliments that library users can pick up and take home to ignite their new year with a spark of joy. No previous poetry writing experience necessary. This workshop will equip you with the skills to harness your creativity and get started.
The wellbeing of our young people is really important to us and time outdoors is a key part of that. With this in mind, where possible a short walk or time outdoors will be incorporated into the workshop days. This will be supervised by the staff running the workshops and will also be weather dependent. Please ensure your child has a coat and sensible footwear!
