What to expect
Join the Dairy Maid* and learn how the Victorians made their butter in this hands-on butter-making workshop. Also, explore our wonderful kitchen treasures and learn about the past and how the Victorians lived and socialised. We welcome all to come dressed up.
The workshop will take place in the Victorian Kitchen on the ground floor, accessible to all. All materials and instructions will be supplied, and support will be provided.
*This workshop is not suitable for anyone with a dairy allergy.
How to book
Book your ticket via Ipswich Museums' website - https://ipswich.cimuseums.org.uk/events/butter-making/
Sessions are start at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 2pm, and 3pm. A session lasts 45 minutes.
Suitable for ages 5+. Younger children are welcome but may not be able to participate fully in the session.
Parents/carers must remain with their children throughout the process.
How to get there
Car parks nearby which are pay and display include - Crown Pools (five minute walk). Ipswich is just 1 hour 15 minutes on the main train line from London to Norwich. Arriving at Ipswich Station the museum is approximately 20 minute walk or short bus ride to the town centre. The museum is a five minute walk from Tower Ramparts bus station in the town centre - see the latest bus timetables here.
